Creative geometry activities to improve kids’ concentration. Learn to recognize and create patterns with symmetry and mirroring, through systematic observation and problem-solving.
Developing the mathematical mind is important to learn to think logically and precisely, to structure and organize ideas and expand mental capacities.
Although the traditional Montessori geometry curriculum is extensive and rich, it has a gap when it comes to working with symmetry, mirroring and patterns. We have developed games and activities for children age 4-12, that offer exploration and learning in this area.
Our games are organized in progressive levels 1-6, Patterns of increasing complexity are reproduced or built creatively, using either Base Cards or Elements.
Base Cards present the children with challenges such as understanding mirror images. They have all the same parts, yet are different. Simple patterns are constructed with just 4 Base Cards, and then as the patterns get more complex they use 9, 25 and 100 Base cards.
Elements are the smallest shapes that the larger shapes can be constructed of.
Our coloring activities offer an artistic dimension. Children create their own game, coloring Patterns and Base Cards.
All materials come in pdf format, to be downloaded directly and printed. Find all levels under Let’s Play in the menu. Instructions on how to prepare and organize the materials are included, as well as teacher information for presentations.
